The Prime Minister (Prince Konoye) said to-day that although the situation in China seemed to have reached a deadlock the reverse was actually the case. The Japanese tactics were being worked out most cautiously, he said. Japan was not considering a fresh approach to Britain,_ but he thought the changed situation would induce Britain to revise her attitude. The Prime Minister denied the war situation had created a split in Cabinet.
