POPPY DAY.
Tn connection with Poppy Day to he held in Feilding to-morrow, Mr Bruce McLeod, president of the Feilding R.S.A., writes to the “Standard” as
follows:—“The Feilding branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association is making its annual Poppy Day effort tomorrow, when residents ,of the town and district will again be acorded an opportunity to participate in this popular nationally-accepted gesture. It perhaps is almost unnecessary to reiterate the three-fold nature of the appeal —a poppy for remembrance, the relief of distress amongst returned soldiers, and last (albeit not least) the support of those disabled returned men who manufacture , the poppies. Feilding’s response has been an ever increasing one. Last year close on 1800 poppies were sold and this year the executive is hopeful of reaching the 2000 mark. There will'be the usual stalls, while streets (so far as assistance is available) will be canvassed by authorised sellers. Wear a Poppv for Remeinbrance: Be 1 sure that any assistance given will be appreciated by the association.”
