(From Our Own Correspondent.) , FOXTON, April 19. On Sunday 'the launch Pilot, owned by Mr .1. Smith, of Manawatu Heads, in which the owner end /a. party of six had an' unenviable experience resulting in the loss of one life' on April 3, returned to Manawatu Heads from Kapiti. The launch was towed to the shelter of the island on the night of Ihe mishap and had remained there since. Tho Pilot was towed to Foxton bv . the launch Madge, tho engine refusing to function for . nearly all the distance. 1 ,

Despite unfavourable weather' there was a Tail' attendance at the biennial meeting of householders. Mr W. R. McKenzie was elected to the chair.. On the motion of ,thc chairman all present stood in silence as. a mark of respect to tho memory, of the lale Mr J. K. Hornblow. The committee comprises Messrs E. A. Corlett L. Fletcher, 11. A. Ilannay,. W. R. ' McKenzie, I. W. Mudford, W. D. Neville, M. E. (Perreau. 11. 11. Podmore, and e! Titcombe. At the close of the meeting, the committee met when Mr W. R. McKenzie was unanimously elected chairman and Mr I. W. Mudford secretary and treasurer. The chairman extended a welcome to Messrs E. A. Corlett and W. U. Neville, ihe two new members. The monthly meetings are to be held on ihe iirsfc Monday of each month.
