PROFESSOR ON POISON GAS. LONDON, April 14. Professor James Kendall, professor of chemistry at Edinburgh University, discounts the stories of the deadliness of poison gas. He declares that its death rate is low and that no deadlier gases have been discovered, despite the panic-mongers’ assertions. Even a modern air raid, lie says, would produce few casualties if the citizens remained calm. Professor Kendall asseYts that Germany could never repeat her advantage of the last war, namely, that of surprise. No country would employ poison gas on civic centres in the next war, because it would induce reprisals.
