TEACHERS’ ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Manawatu branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute was held last evening, Mr M. R. McEwen (Milson) presiding over an attendance of over fifty. The report, as previously published, was read and adopted. 11l moving the adoption of the report, the chairman referred to the loss the branch had sustained in the resignations of Air F. C. Campbell, who bad retired on superannuation, Mr D. C. Pryor, who had formerly been secretary, and who, after being secretary at head office, had taken up a headmastership at Martinborough, and Aliss Curtis (due to take the office of president), who had gone to Taranaki. The election of officers for the ensiling year resulted as follows: —President, Air W. H. Smith (Feilding); vice-president, Aliss A. T. Fowles: secretary and treasurer, Air K. Dawkins, committee. Mrs J. Walker, Misses B. J. B. Watkins and R. Bird, Afessrs A. E. R. Joblin, K. White, E. G. W. Schwarz, I. N. Leet and H. W. Jackson; auditor, Alr & L. Alorine; delegates to district committee, the president, vice-president and secretary; library committee, Alessrs J. F. Gaskin and A. Rudd; representative on Teachers’ Grading Appeal Board, Mr E. Bary. The following remit was carried: “That the department he asked to arrange short intensive courses in art. music iand handwork at the Training Colleges for teachers who have been ten or more years out of college and who mav wish to attend.” Twenty-five new members were elected. A vote of thanks to the outgoing committee was carried by acclamation.
