DESCENT INTO SEA.
PROFESSOR PICARD’S. PLANS. BRUSSELS, March 4. Professor Picard is constructing an undersea globe in which, after a rehearsal at Lake Leman, he hopes to descend six miles, west of the Canary Islands, next summer, thereafter descending at Questa Rica to a depth of 25,000 ft and at Mariannes to 30,000 feet.
, The upper sphere of the globe contains oil, which, as it is released, forces the globe downward at two miles an hour, an electro-magnet releasing shot ballast.
