REARMAMENT PROGRAMME.
TESTING COMMONS OPINION. (British, Official Wireless.) Received March 5. 11.10 a.m. RUGBY. March 4. In view of the amendment tabled by the Labour Party to the motion approving the White Paper on Defence, which is to be moved by Mr Chamberlain at the beginning of Monday s House of Commons debate, the Government will treat 1 the division as a vote of confidence on its rearmament programme. The Labour amendment is based, firstly, on repudiation of the Government’s foreign policy, which, _it asserts, is a violation of the election pledges, but the amendment also criticises tfie defence programme itself as failing to provide effective co-ordi-nation in strategy, administration, and supply, or to check profiteering.
