TONE IMPROVES.

WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE. TRADING EXPANDS. There was a slightly improved tone in the stock and share markets yesterday and AVellington trading was more expansive, a substantial number of shares being recorded as sold. Government loans and other gilt-edgeds were quietly Steady. More interest w.as shown in banks, Australasias, Commercial of Australia., National of Australasia, National of New Zealand and New Zealands being traded at slightly firmer _ nates. There were unsupported inquiries for New South AVales at £32 ss. Dalgetys were wanted at £8 7s 6d, sellers holding for £8 15s. Insurance issues were steadier.

Offers of 45s 6d for Huddart Parker preference and 28s 6d for the ordinaries found no response. Union Steam preference were on offer at 27s 4d. AVellington AVoollen preference were 6d up at £5 6s 6d, no sellers. Chain stores were steady at about late rates. Broken Hill Proprietary improved to business at 625. lid.
