Mrs N. H. Mackie and Mrs Morton Builen, who have been visiting Wanganui, have returned home.
Miss A. Thompson, of Palmerston North, is visiting Wellington. Mrs E. Levy, who is touring New Zealand from Sydney, is a guest of Mrs A. Levy, 158 Bryant Street. Mrs A. Funston has returned to her home, at Colvton, following the death of her mother in Christchurch.
At a meeting of the Terrace End School Committee last evening, advice was received from the Wanganui Education Board to the effect that, pending her appointment to a relieving position, Miss B. McDonald would act as a supernumary teacher on the staff as from March 1.
At the annual meeting of the Takaro Ladies’ Guild the following officers were elected : —President, Mrs A. D. Barkwith; vice-presidents, Mrs Roland and Mrs C. S. Penny; secretary, Miss M. Penny; treasurer, Mrs T. B. Arlidge; caterer, Mrs Penny.
Advice has been received in Dune din that Miss Jeanet Hoggans, of Dunedin, has been awarded a gold medal by the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music, London, for gaining the highest marks in 'Grade V 111 of the examinations conducted last year by Dr. Markham Lee. Miss Hoggans will 'also receive a prize of £lo,and free entry for the Licentiate examination. Miss Hoggans, who is 19 years of age, has been a student of the violin at Sf.
