STARR-BOWKETT SOCIETY.
The monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of the Palmerston North Co-operative Building Society was held last evening. Air D. F. Smillie presiding. Other directors present were Alessrs S. AV. Rapley, F. Jackson. -H. Christmas, J. B. Gerrand and H. I. AA’ilson. Ballots were held in Groups 5 and 7. the successful members being Airs’G. AA 7 . Brill. Palmerston North, £SOO, No. 7 Group; Air L. A. Peters Palmerston North, £SOO, No. 7 Group; Aliss A. E. Rennie, Christchurch. £SOO, No. 5 Group. Business was conducted in all groups. Three applications to place ballots totalling £2OOO in the Post Office Savings Bank were granted. In Group 9 a tender for £SOO \va§ approved oil the valuer’s report. The progress of Group 11 was reviewed, and the opinion expressed that it will soon be possible to commence operations.
