MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
REFUSED TO GIVE EVIDENCE. Per Press Association. NAPIER, Alarch 2. Despite warnings that her attitude amounted to contempt of Court a 17-year-old girl stolidly refused to give evidence in the Police Court during the hearing of a charge against her father, Walter Robinson. 56, a roadman. The girl admitted her complaint to the police was true but refused to give evidence concerning the incident from which the charge arose. Stating that the case appeared to be hopeless the Magistrate, Mr Miller, discharged accused. He added he would not deal with the girl for contempt of Court as she was a quartercaste native and had been living under Alaori conditions.
