RETIRING CHAIRWOMAN.

DIRS J. H. WHYTE HONOURED. Members of the College Street School Ladies’ Committee gathered at the Rosco tearooms yesterday afternoon to pay a tribute to their retiring chairwoman, Dlrs J. H. AA 7 hyte. ’Tea was served in the private room, where the tables were prettily decorated with pink gladioli. The guest of honour wore a black and white ensemble and black hat, with a dainty shoulder spray, the latter being the gift of Dlrs G. Watehorn (vice-chairwoman), who chose a blue patterned frock with navy straw liat.

On behalf of tlie committee, Dlrs Watchorn asked Dlrs Whyte to accept with good wishes, and in appreciation of her work during her eight years’ membership, a bedroom clock. Dlrs AVhyte, after thanking the members for their gift and co-operation in committee work, said that although she was no longer a iriember of the committee she would be pleased to heln at any time if called upon. Those present were: Mesdanies H. Christmas, Livingston, Holdsworth, Kennedy. F. King. G. Mills. McLeod. E. Persson, Robson, G. E. Stevens and H. Shackleton.
