BANDSMEN’S WIVES.
AFTERNOON OUTING. The wives and lady friends accompanying the visiting bandsmen spent an enjoyable afternoon yesterday, when they took part in a motor drive arranged by the ladies of the Palmerston North band committee. A halt was made at the Awapuni racecourse, where the grounds were i mch admired, and then the party proceeded to the home of Mr R. Tan'r ner, of Karere. Here afternoon tea was enjoyed, in the shade of the gardens by about seventy ladies, who all found much to interest them in ( the well set-out grounds of this charming residence. On behalf of the visitors Miss Willers, of Ashburton, expressed thanks to the ladies’ committee for the outing, which she said had given them much pleasure. Mrs A. E. Manslord briefly replied. Prior to the party’s departure, Mrs Mansford thanked Mr and Mrs Tanner for their kindness in making the visit possible.
