Beef values firmed at late rates at Westfield to-day, lower grade stock being dearer. In many instances quality was good in the ox section, but again inferior and patchy among the cows. Restricted selection produced stronger competition. Extra choice ox realised 39s a lOOib, choice and prime, 33s to 38s; unfinished, 25s to 355; prime cow and heifer beef, 30s to 375; unfinished, 22s to 325. Extra heavy .steers made £l2 15s to £l4; heavy, £l2 12s 6d to £l4; medium, £ll-10s to £l2 15s;. light, £lO 75.6 dto £ll 12s 6d; unfinished, £7 10s to £lO ss; extra heavy, cows and heifers, £9 to' £lO 17s 6d; heavy, £7 10s to £9 15s;. medium, £6 15s to £7. 10s; light,. £5 to £6- 10s; unfinished, £3 to £4 15s. Prime quality sheep were offered in largo numbers, some . of, the choicest lines available for some time being sold at firm rates. Sheep lacking finish were inclined to be easier. Extra heavy wethers brought 29s to 30s 6d; heavy 27s 6d to 28s 6dj; medium, 26s io 275; light, 24s to 25s 9d, unfinished, 18s to 23s 6d; extra heavy ewes, 20s to 235; heavy, 18s toA9s 6d; medium,' 16s 6d to 17,» 9d;> light; 14s 9d to 16s 6dr unfinished, 5s to 15s. Lambs were in keen demand for Christmas markets and realised fully firm values on recent schedules. Prime, grades ranged 21s lo 27s 9d; smaller and unfinished, 10s to 20= wl. The full supply of calves lacked quality and bidding was very slack. Prices declined about 5s a bead, making a decrease of more than 8s in two weeks. The demand for calves has deteriorated «naccount; ablv. Runners realised £2 10s to £6 12s 6d, heavy vealers, £4 to £5 ss; medium, £3 o £4 2s; light, £2 6s to £5 6s; smaller, £1 10s to £2 8s; rough, 10s to 245; bobby, &3 A to large proportion of prime was included in the good yarding of pigs.
