LONGBURN SCHOOL
SPORTS AND PRIZES. The annual sports and prize-giving of the Longburn School took place yesterday under ideal weather conditions. At 11.45 a.m. the pupils' were assembled for their prize day lunch ;treat in the grounds in .front of the school. At 1 p.m. the sports programme was commenced and later the prizes were presented. I Rev. J. S. Holland distributed the prizes and addressed the parents and children. The children presented Christmas gifts to the members of the staff. Miss G. McMillan and Miss I. M. Reeve. The head teacher (Mr E. A. Searle), who is leaving for Dunedin, was the recipient of farewell gifts from the children and staff (presented by Bruce Wilson) and members of the committee (presented by the chairman, Mr J. Callesen). The proceedings closed after afternoon tea, which was served by an energetic band of committeemen and their wives. SPORTS WINNERS.
