A 13-year-old negro girl who was working on a farnu at Jarrett, some 40 miles north of Austin,. Texas, was attacked by a large eagle which tried to carry her off. The bird swooped down on the girl, fastened its talons on her body, and tried to rise with her...- The child’s cries brought a cotton picker to the rescue, but though the man attacked the eagle with a pair of cotton scales it refused to release its prey. Other persons then, arrived, one of whom shot the eagle dead. The bird’s wing-spread is said to have been 6ft. lOin.
