The friends of Air C. Louisson,-of Palmerston North, will regret to learn that he is at present indisposed.

Mr and Mrs W. T. Wood, who came to Palmerston North for the Diamond, Jubilee celebrations, have left for Wellington, where they will spend Christmas with their son, Mr H. F. Wood, before returning to Australia. General Sir Reginald Pinney, who is now in Australia, is coming to New Zealand to visit his son, Mr Robert Pinney, at Mihiwaka, near Dunedin. He commanded the 33rd and 35th Divisions in France and was a colonel in the Royal Fusiliers when the late King George V was Colonel-in-Chief. Mr E. Beatson, of Auckland, has been appointed manager of the Massey College dairy factory in succession to Mr J. AVallace South, who, for health reasons, is now:residing permanently in Auckland, where he is carrying out his duties as an officer of the Dairy Division of the Department of Agriculture.

At the eiinual riveting of the Palmerston North Chamber of. Commerce, Mr J. H. Stevens, after a long period of years, did not re-elec-tion, and at the monthly meeting of the executive last evening appreciation of Mr Stevens’s services- to the chamber during his period of office was pleaced on record. Mr A. J. Graham (president) paid a warm tribute to Mr Stevens’s keen interest in the chamber’s work, and on, his suggestion it was resolved to place on record appreciation of his interest.

“I deeply regret having to accept Mr F. C. Campbell’s resignation from the headmastership of tlie school,”, said the chairman (Mr J. A. Grant) at a meeting of the Russell Street School Committee last evening. : Mr Grant expressed appreciation, on' behalf of the present and former committees, of the services Mr Campbell had performed for the school, and extended to the retiring headmaster the committee’s best wishes for- a‘ happy future. It was agreed to place on record an appreciation of the services rendered by Mr Campbell. 1 • A ' Mr W. J. Pearce, who for the past eight years has been chief accountant at the Palmerston North Post Office, retires on superannuation on December 31, and will take up ’ his future residence in Auckland, where,he was formerly stationed for a period- of 20 years prior to coming to this centre. Mr Pearce, who, will, have completed 40 years of service with the department by March 31 next, is’retiring on three months’ full leave, and .will be succeeded by Mr J. W. Yelvm,-at present assistant-accountant, - fit: Palmerston North. Mr T- Ci- Wiggs, .of Christchurch-,. will, take' up' fhe ’ latter’s position. During (his (stay in Palmerston Nortli.Mr,.Pearce, a very popular and efficient officer, has made many friends. For two years he was president of the Terrace End Rowling Club, and has the unique record of having occupied in turn every executive position of the club but that of green supervisor.
