PLANT LIFE.
INSTITUTE OF HORTICULTURE. At the monthly meeting of the executive council of the New Zealand Institute of Horticulture a letter was reoeived from Mrs Knox Gilmer, advising of her early departure from England. It was mentioned that at the annual horticultural examination in November twenty-two candidates sat, comprising 9 junior, 6 intermediate, and 7 diploma. The president reported that a deputation in support of the establishment of a School of Horticulture in Christchurch had waited upon the Prime Minister, and had been granted a sympathetic hearing and the promise of a favourable recommendation to Cabinet.
