(From Our Own Corerspondent.) OTAKI, Dee. 6. Tile death occurred at the Wellington Hospital carLy on Saturday morning of Air Hv Rod, for some time a well-known and highly respected resident of Otaki. The late. Air Rod, who leaves a grown-up family, was at one time a well-known business man m Wellington. Air A. Sath’erley, a life member' of the Otaki Bowling Club, intends to present to each past president a badge. The Te Horo Tennis Club’s dance was well attended. Mr. A. Rolfe was M.C. Extras were provided 'by Miss W. Parata. and Air G. Davidson. The finalists In a Monte Carlo were Aliss .T. Inia ana Air W. Puti. . , . The British_bo,\vlevs who arrived in: Wellington on Saturday on Sunday visited Otaki, the outing being arranged at the desire of Air A. D. Webster, president of the Otaki Railway Bowling Club. '1 he tourists were accompanied by Air AL. Casey, president of the Wellington Centre. Taxes in connection with the Otaki Alaori Racing Club’s meeting totalled £1534 15s 6d, made up as follows: —'1 otalisator tax, £797 7s 6d; dividend tax, £697 10s; stakes tax, £lO 8s; amusement tax, £29 Bs.
