ONE GENERAL POLICY
AGRICULTURAL COLLEGES. “BIG STEP FORWARD.” “This big step forward from the point of view of University education in New Zealand. The Auckland and Victoria University Colleges joined hands for the formation of Massey College, and now Massey and Lincoln Colleges have been united under the one board. Professor T. A. Hunter, chairman of the Council of the Massey Agricultural College, made this statement to a “Standard” reporter to-day, when commenting upon the legislation now being enacted for the joint administration of the two colleges, as disclosed in reports published to-day. “There will be no interference with the ordinary work of the two agricultural colleges,” Professor Hunter added, “but the whole policy of administration will be determined by the new organisation. “New Zealand agricultural education is to be conducted as a national school, and the one board will deal with the requirements of both colleges. This does not involve any reduction in the aggregate grants. “Henceforth,” concluded ProfessorHunter, “there will be one general policy, rather than two competing institutions. and it will be under a University of Agriculture.”
