REFRESHING RAIN.
DOAVNPOUR AVELCOAIED
Over twelve hours’ steady rain yesterday and last night, with prospects of a further downpour to-day, will result in much benefit to pastures and facilitate agricultural operations. Prior to the rain there had been little growth, and live stock were not making progress. Lambs were almost at a standstill as far as fattening was concerned, while the weekly stock sales at Feilding during the past few weeks had reflected in the values for store cattle the anxiety felt by graziers. The refreshing rain will also be appreciated by gardeners as the recent restrictions placed on the use of hoses had limited their activities.
Dairy farmers had complained -that the production of their herds was falling off at an alarming rate, and ho doubt that section of the fanning community will be rejoicing to-day, with the prospects of a recovery in milk production and the value of the rain as far as hay crops are concerned.
