At a meeting of eighty delegates from all the branches in the new llangitikei electorate a decision that the nominations of the National .Party candidates to contest the Rangitikei seat at the general election next year will close on January 15 was made. Mrs L. K. Mcßeth, of Kapum Street, is visiting her sister, Mrs Black, Bay of Plenty. The winners of the Canadian foursomes played at the closing function of the hlarton Golf Club’s 1937 season were Mrs A. McFarlane and McFarlane, Mrs McFarlane also won the ladies’ putting competition. A. 1). Fullerton-Smith won tlie men’s prize. The following is the list of winners of competitions during the past searson:—Men’s senior championship : A. Fullerton-Smith; runner-up, A. D. Fullerton-Smith. Tutaenui handicap, M. Atkinson; runner-up, J. Potalca. Best gross score in the qualifying rounds for championship, N. Amon. Yankee four-ball competition, M. Atkinson and H. F. Arkwright. Dr Dick’s trophy for best nett score in qualifying rounds of championships, H. F. Arkwright. Foursome trophy presented by A. H. Marshall, A. K. Fume and J. Potaka. Eclectic competition, F. J. Christensen. At a meeting of the Marton.A. and P. Association Mr E. O'. Pryce raised the question of the introduction of a judging competition for the Young Farmers’ Clubs at the coming show. Mr E. W. Barnett contended that it would not be difficult to hold. It was agreed to invite the clubs to participate in a competition, the judging to be of one class only in each of the sheep, horse, pig and cattle sections. The judge of the Highland dancing will be Mr A. Sutherland, of Bulls. Hie stewards were appointed as follow: Cattle, Mr J. W. Griffin; sheep, Mr E. H. Simpson; horses, Mr H. J. Cameron; pigs, Mr II- W. Gudopp; dogs, Mr D. B. Sladden; Young Farmers’ Competition, Mr E. W. Barnett ; master of parades, Mr H. J. Cameron. The following were the class stewards appointed: Horses, ring competition ; Messrs F. McLean, G. Morris, H. J. Cameron, F. H. Dexter; draughts, Messrs P. W. Briant, D. B. Sladden, F. H. Dexter; measuring steward, Mr Dexter. Cattle, Jerseys, Messrs W. Jenkins and C. E. Vile; Friesians. Mr J. Griffin; Herefords, Mr B. Iliston. Registered dairy cattle, Mr F. Brice,’ jnnr.: calf-rearing competition, Mr W. G. Aitken. Pigs, Messrs J. Aldworth arid: N. Shelton. Sheep, Romney Marsh purebred and flock rams. Messrs S. W. Morrison and H. Coleman; natural condition, Messrs T. Andrew, F. J. Soler and H. \V. Collier; Southdowns. purebreds and flock rams; Messrs R. W. Marshall and K. R. Scoon; natural condition classes, Messrs P. Miller and E. Gudopp; farmers’ classes and pet lambs, Messrs G. E. Marshall and .T. Caithness; fat lambs. Messrs H. G. Stewart and E. I?. Galpin; sideshow stewards, Messrs J. H. McLean and A. S.
