RANGIOTU
The Women’s Institute drama circle presented a programme of four plays and several musical items to a full house. The opening item was a pianoforte duet by Mr and Mrs T. Attwood. Those taking part in a dramatic presentation were Mrs Wilkinson, Miss Russell and Messrs Russell and Pierce. Vocal numbers were presented by Miss M. Feist. A humorous sketch was portrayed by Mrs Wilkinson, Miss Russell and Messrs Russell and Pierce. Vocal numbers were presented by Miss M. Feist. A humorous sketch was portrayed by Mrs Wilkinson, and Mrs Beard, Miss Arlidge, Miss Dixon and Messrs Buchanan and Saywell. Miss B. Berkahn contributed songs. A drama followed, the cast being Mesdames Russell. Pearce, Attwood,' Beard, and Misses Arlidge and Feist. Mana Thompson gave elocutionary items. A comedy followed, those taking part being Mrs Russell, Mrs Buchanan, Miss Legge and Messrs Pearce, Buchanan and Saywell. Miss Thompson was the accompaniste for the vocal items.. Mr J. Baker was the M.C. for the dance. Mr Carkeek presided over the monthly meeting of the Rangiotu School Committee. The head master (Mr D. Wilkinson) reported that the roll number was nearing the 80 mark. The chief inspector (Mr W. J. Boden), who had visited the school, had been pleased with the progress of the pupils. Mr R. A. Robbie, the agricultural instructor, had visited the school, as had the Wanganui Education Board’s medical officer (Dr. Platts-Mills).
