Rev. R. Grice is in Palmerston North to attend the Hawke’s Bay-Manawatu Methodist Synod. Mrs Grice, who recently underwent an operation in a private hospital in Palmerston North, has.returned home, and is making satisfactory progress. Miss E. Lee, of Wellington, is spending a holiday with her parents, Mr and Mrs A. Lee. Air J. Devonshire, of Alotuili, is an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital suffering from a broken leg sustained in an accident on his farm. The .meeting of the Foxton Women’s Institute was presided over by Airs E. Brown (president). It was decided to hold a picnic at the seaside on January 20, 1938. A Christmas cake was won by. Mrs T. Ghaffey and a duchess set in hair-pin work, made and donated by Mrs E. Brown, wa s won by Mrs W. Trueman. A demonstration on hair-waving was given by Miss Matthews, of Feilding. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames C. H. Symons, W. Trueman, W. AI. Thomas, E. Titcombe, E. W. Thane, R. N. Speirs, Alisscs A. and B. Spiers, and Alias Thomas.
