GRAVE FEARS
3.15 P.M. EDITION.
INVASION IN SOUTH. WARSHIP SEEN. (United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph—Copyrigut.) Received November 25, 1.40 p.m. LONDON, Nov. 24. The Hong Kong correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says fears have increased that Japan is preparing a large-scale invasion of - the south coast. They are heightened by a report from Amoy that three divisions of Japanese troops are aboard warships off Formosa awaiting orders to invade the Canton area. This will be viewed very gravely owing to the danger of incidents involving the British interests. “While I was flying to Hong Iv'ong from Saigon I saw Japanese warships steaming almost under the guns of the new Stanley fortress. Among them was an aircraft carrier from which the Japanese ’planes were sent to attack Canton,” adds the correspondent.
