ELLERSLIE TRACK WORK.
PREPARATIONS FOR TAKAPUNA. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Nov. 25. The final gallops for the Takapuna meeting at Ellerslie on Saturday, took place to-day, the course proper, 50ft out from the rails, being available. Despite the recent rain, the going was in good order a.nd several smart trials were recorded. Among the Alison Cup candidates, Jonathan, Knight of Australia, Kelly, Fersen and Kilonsa impressed most over a distance, while Mazir and Kiltowyn were both rosponsiblo for good efforts over six and seven furlongs respectively. Rereatu put up the best time over six furlongs, and Ringshot went well in a similar task. Land Girl, after running her first halfmile in 52 4-ssec, completed seven furlongs in 1.36. She did her work in good style. , . , tv Rereatu ran his first three furlongs in 40 l-ssec and went on to complete six in 120 —the best of the morning over the distance. Captain Bruce assisted him over the last half-mile, finishing in front in 53 2-ssec. Kilonsa, Kelly and Fersen, were practically in line, with Royal Appellant close up, at the end of a round in 2.11 2-5 They ran the last seven furlongs in 136 2-5, six in 1.23 2-5 and the flna half-mile in 55sec. All were going well at the finish. , Knight of Australia completed a round in 2.10 2-5. He ran the last seven furlongs in 1.35 4-5, six in 1.22 2-5 and the final half-mile in 54 4-ssec. It was a good trial as ho had no assistance. Mundane, after getting several lengths the. worst of the start, finished in front of Tiverton, with Quilp further back, at the end of of half a mile run in 52 2-sscc. This was a good effort. hi Mazir was clear of Surolla after traversing six furlongs in 1.22, the first three 'taking 41 2-sscc. Mazir looks in good order ■after his recent racing. ' Jonathan completed a mile and a quarter in 2.20 2-5. He covered the last round Tin 2.9 3.5, and was assisted over the final .six furlongs by Marie’s Acre m 1.22 4-5, The last half-mile taking 33 Lsscc, Jonathan did his: work impressively, and Marie’s Acre also pleased. . Rin< r shot and Oimaha wore timed to run six furlongs in 122 2-5,. the first three taking 39 4-ssec. Ringshot appeared to be doing the better at-the end. . : Tybalt traversed seven furlongs in 1.45 ■3-5 He was . joined by . Shy at the six furlong post, and they came home from there in 1.21 3-5.
