MORE APPRENTICES.
POSITION IN DOMINION. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Nov. 23. The apprenticeship position in New Zealand has improved greatly, declared the Minister of Labour, Hon. H. T. Armstrong, w r hen interviewed today. Information was now being gained throughout the Dominion as to the total number of ordinary apprentices in various trades, and when these returns were completed they were expected to show that the' present year will prove a record; in fact, the figures at the present time indicate that the number of ordinary contracts entered into for the past eight months is approximately the same as the number of apprentices ta.ken on in a normal vear. ... i Referring to the legislation passed last session dealing with young men who missed their opportunities during the depression. Mr Armstrong said that to date 363 special contracts had l>aen entered into and a large number of other cases were under investigation.
