TERRACE END PIT.
•COMPLETION OF LAKELET. Six chains long, the lakelet to be used exclusively for boating is practically finished as part of the general developmental and beautification work in the Terrace End railway ballast pit, and water has been let into the area. A brick edging has been provided all round the lakelet, and this will later be finished with a concrete coping, while the sides and bottom have been pugged with clay. The area which was levelled lias been sown in grass, which is beginning to come away, while already some growth is noticeable in the trees that have been planted. These are mainly Australian oaks, silver birch and flowering gums. Flax and toi toi have been planted close to the lakelet.
