DRAINAGE DISTRICT.
PROPOSED BOUNDARIES. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Nov. 22. The commission appointed by the Government to hear evidence for the purpose of defining the boundaries of the proposed Auckland Metropolitan Drainage District commenced its fitting to-day at the Town Hall. The chairman. Sir Francis Frazer, had with him Mr J. W. Heenan, undersecretary for Internal Affairs, and Dr. M. H. Watt, Director-General of Health. A large array of counsel are watching the various interests. An engineer of the Drainage Board, Mr H. H. Watkins, and the city solicitor, Mr J. -Stanton, on behalf of the board, pointed out the comprehensive nature of the proposed drainage scheme for the metropolitan area, estimated at a cost of £1.500,000. with a treatment plant and outfall at Brown’s Island in the Waitemata Harbour.
