FIXTURE AT WAIPUKURAU. PALMERSTON NORTH COMPETITORS. The Waipukurau Boxing Club staged a tournament last evening, and competitors travelled from Palmerston North and Taranaki to participate. Messrs J. D. Ormond, junr., and Drew, of Hastings, were the referees. An interesting feature was the meeting of L. McLachlan, Palmerston North, and C. Beale, Hastings, bantam champions of their respective districts. The Victory went to the Hastings competitor. Results : XT \ n a W. Pearson (Palmerston North) 9.4 beat Hutchins (Hastings) 9.4; C. Beale (Hastings) 8.9 beat L. McLachlan (Palmerston North), 8.2; W. Parsons (Palmerston North) 9.7 beat Copestake (Taranaki) 9.5; J. Mclvor (Hastings) 9.5 beat B. Coughlan (Palmerston North) 9.6; Richard (Taranaki) 10.0 beat Christensen (Palmerston North) 10.1; Joe Collins (Palmerston North) 9.9 beat H. Mclvor (Hastings) 9-7; T -Davis (Hastings) 10.7 beat Huzziff (Taranaki) 10.7. A cup donated by Mr S. E. Salter for the most scientific boxer of the tournament was won by J. Collins. A team of Maori boys representing le Aute College fought a series of ten one-minute bouts with a Maori team from Porangahau for the Kuru Cup, the former team winning.
