COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP.
A KEEN CONTEST. Received August 30, 11.50 a.m. LONDON, Aug. 29. Yorksfiire and Middlesex are keenly contesting the county cricket leadership, though Yorkshire, as the result of taking lull poipts from Sussex while Middlesex obtained only a first innings lead over Nottinghamshire, lias again gone to tlie head of the tabic. The Yorkshire percentage is 70.86 against Middlesex’s 70.43. Both have commenced their last matches against Hampshire and Surrey, respectively. If both win Yorkshire will be champions by a few decimal points. The next county in the table is Derbyshire, last year’s champions, with 59.25 per-cent.
