CHRISTIANS IN JAPAN.
HAMILTON, Aug. 26. “Christian people of Japan wished me to convey to New Zealanders that they have no sympathy whatever with those waging war in China,” declared Rev. L. O. Stanton, lecturing under the auspices of the Oriental Misisonary Society last evening. Mr Stanton, who recently returned from Japan, said the country was controlled by an essentially militarist Government, which wielded tremendous power and pursued a campaign of aggression in China, contrary to the wishes of the . great majority of the people, especially the thousands of Christians who form a large pacifist group.
