PAHIATUA.
PAHIATUA, Aug. 27. Marking the 501 b anniversary of the establishment of Methodism in Pahi.atua, a tea and social was held m the Methodist Sunday School hall recently. Mr J. J. Boagey, secretary of the trust, presented his report. The accounts showed a small credit balance, he said, but he intimated that tlie full co-operation of the people was necessary to keep matters in a satisfactory position; Messrs Boagey and J. W. Greaves contributed songs. To celebrate the birthday of Mr L. J. Hea.yns. the president of the Maugamiitu Miniature Rifle Club, tlie members were entertained last evening at Mr Heayns’s residence. Air L. Broughton called on Airs Heayns to accept a box of linen handkerchiefs from the club in recognition ol her kindness. The function had coincided with the realisation of the clubs greatest ambition, the winning ot the Byrne shield.
