FUNERAL SERVICE.

MR HONE KNYVETT. The funeral of the late Mr Hone Knyvett, whose death was reported in the “Standard” on Saturday, took place yesterday at the Feilding cemetery following services conducted by Ven. Archdeacon F. H. Petrie at the residence and at St. John’s Anglican Church. Feilding. Archdeacon Petrie also oiljciated at the graveside. Uic casket, draped with a Feilding Old Boys’ club jersey, was borne to the graveside by members of the Feilding Old Boys’ Football Club, Messrs J. Dewe, E. W. Ewart, Jack Finlay, James Finlay, H. Waugh and L. Jenkins acting as pall-bearers. The funeral was an impressive one, . and the large cortege testified to the popularity of deceased. The Feilding Agricultural High Schdol, at which the late Mr Knyvett had received his secondary education, was represented by Messrs C. B. McClure (acting-headmaster) and P. G. Stevens. The Mayor (Mr T. Collins) attended on behalf of the Feilding football executive and was accompanied by a large number of footballers representative of both local football clubs. The Manawatu Rugby Union was represented, those present including the secretary (Mr J. H. White) and Messrs W. Gleeson and M. Bowler. Citizens of Feilding mid residents or Stanway, where Mr Knyvett had managed his mother’s farm, were also present. Amongst the wealth of floral tributes were a wreath in the colours of the Feilding Football Club and another of a permanent character from the Feilding Old Boys Club. The late Mr Knyvett, even in Ins primary school days, distinguished himself as'a footballer by gaining inclusion in the Manawatu primary schoo s Rugby representatives. On entering the Feilding High School he went straight into the first fifteen and also achieved th.e honour of being the schools swimming champion during his first yeiu. Out of respect for the late Mr Knyvett, of the Feilding Old Boys Club, the Manawatu representatives and the referee wore black arm bands on fcatuidav.
