CITY SILVER BAND
. SUNDAY CONCERT
The City Silver Band gave the first of scheduled concerts for the season at the rotunda in the Square yesterday afternoon, a large audience lwing present. The band (24 strong) gave a very fine programme and appreciation was expressed on all sides of the form displayed, every item being heartily encored. The band is now going into strict training in view of the coming Dominion contest, and it is hoped that further improvement will be noted. The following programme was rendered: —Contest march, “Punchinello” (Rimmer); grand selection, “Martha” (Flotow): hymn, “Nearer My God to Thee” (Mason); intermezzo, “Oriental Bells” (Ord Hume); tone poem, “Air From Rinaldo” (Handel, arr. Hawkins); concert waltz. “Reign of Beautv (Rimmer); march, “On Parade” (V. Turner).
