PAHIATUA.
PAHTATUA, Aug. 28. Pahiatua heat Hukanui, on the Mangatninoka Domain tin’s afternoon, in a Rugby match for the Cowan Cup, by 8 points to nil. In a hockey tournament on Saturday, Bush representatives met the Dannevirke representatives at Woodville in an interesting match. The former won by five goals to two. Goals were scored for Bush by K. Strand (3), M. Ngaturie and J. Beale, while Dannevirke scorers were A. Brabazon and N. Robinson. M. Sygvertson (Bush) came in contact with a high ball, which split his eye, necessitating the insertion of four stitches. On Saturday afternoon five contestants faced the starter for the 28-mile cycling road race to Newman and return. The day was dull hut fine, and after the Pahiatua cyclists had left four Woodville riders rode over tbe distance for a dav’s outing. R. Leach had the misfortune to have a spill when lie was tailing R. Millar. Millar put up the fastest time, doing the distance in 1 hour 17 minutes 6 seconds. The following were the placings: W. Adams ,(7min.), lhr. 21 min., 1; R. Millar (2min.). lhr. 17min 6 sec.. 2,; L. Wilson (lOmin,). lhr. 25 min. Gsec.. 3; L. Pearce (smin.), lhr. 20min. 30sec., 4.
