CLAY-BIRD SHOOTING.

EVENT AT MASSEY COLLEGE. On Saturday, the second annual clay bird shoot was held by the members of the staff and the students of Massey College, The shoot was for a trophy presented by Air N. D. Stubbs, president of the Palmerston North Gun Club. The following were, the results: R. Harper, possible, 6 G. A. Colpman and J. Blake, equal, 5 breaks, with the former winning the shoot-off; G. Linzan, S. L. Green, J. Morrison, 4 breaks. Of the 21 who competed, a number had never shot at clay birds before, but they enjoyed the. sport, under the coaching of members of the Palmerston North Gun Club. Breaks amounted to 52 per cent —a creditable performance for beginners. The visitors were the guests of the Gun Club. In the absence of the president (Mr N. D. Stubbs), the secretary (Mr J. B. O’Sullivan) presented the trophies won during the day. Mr R. Harper thanked the club on behalf of the college.’ Members of the Gun Club held two practice shoots in view of a match which -will shortly take place with the Wanganui Gun Club for tbe Collinson Challenge Cup. T. A. Wrigley wou the No. 1 shoot with a possible, of 10 breaks. He was closely followed hv F. Sievert and R. Maher, each with 9 breaks. F. Sievert broke 10 in the second shoot, as did W. A. Thomson and R. Maher. Other good scores were: T. A. Wrigley and R. Sievert, 9; and M. Hansen, 8.
