HOME LEAGUE.

At the weekly meeting of the Home League the eighth birthday of the league was celebrated. Airs Tremaine extended a welcome to all members and visitors and thanked each one for their co-operation and loyalty during the past eight years, which had helped to make the league a successful combination. The word for the day was “full,” and the excerpts quoted showed that members had spent some time in searching for the verses and truths. Mrs J. Smith read an appropriate portion of Scripture, after which Airs C. Sagar sang “Stille Naclit.” Airs E. Petty entertained with a monologue, “Never Entertain a Doubt.” The first roll-call of the league was read by the secretary, and it was interesting to 'note that when the league commenced eighteen members joined up, of whom seven are still members, the others either having left the district or passed away. The centre of the table was adorned with a beautiful birthday cake which had been made, iced, and donated by Airs 11. Dewe, treasurer of the league. The oldest member, Airs Flavall, was asked to cut the cake, and Airs Tremain, assisted by Airs H. Dewe, presented to each member a beautiful artistic china cake plate ns a birthday present, and the visitors each received a small memento of the occasion. Airs E. Petty proposed a vote of thanks to the person who had prepared such a pleasant surprise, which was carried by acclamation. The working of the thrift club was explained and Airs T. Sumner, who is the thrift club secretary, reported that last year £2GO was paid out prior to Christinas to those who belonged to this club, and up to the present the deposits were far ahead of what they were at this time last year. The afternoon tea was in the capable hands of Airs J. Smith and Aliss Crenfeldt. The members who were unable to be present wore not forgotten, and their birthday gift will bo forwarded in due course. Three new members. Alosdames AVaugh, Caiman and Page, received a warm welcome. With the increased interest that is being taken in the league members are confident that during the ninth year even greater advances will be made.
