TARANAKI’S BEST MILER. THREE RACING SEASONS. Though tho period: now ending is only Friesland’s third year of racing, his performances have stamped him as Taranaki’s best rniler of recent years. During the past season, ns u five-year-old, ho has had 12 starts for 6 wins and two third placings, securing £1283 in stakes. During his three years of racing Friesland has had 34 starts for 14 wills, four second and three third placings, • earning £2428 in stakes. Last season Friesland graduated to open company to register a lino effort in going under to Silvor Ring by the narrowest of margins in the W.R.C. Thompson Handicap and as a result of that performance he was expected to win good races when ho reappeared this season (says a Taranaki writer). Brilliant in his track work, ho was a trifle disappointing at his first three starts as a five-year-old, but he then struck his time form to win easily the Urenui Flandieap at the Taranaki autumn meeting. This was the first of a winning sequence of five victories, the last, in the W.R.C.
