Air and Airs AV. Sandercock, of Rongotea, accompanied by Mrs A. J. Will, are on a motor tour in the Hawke s Bay district. Mr T. C. Brash, secretary of the New Zealand Dairy Board, joined the Limited express at Palmerston North last night on his way north. Air E. A. Croad, of Rongotea, returned to-day from Rotorua, and lias been very much benefited in health as a result of the treatment he underwent. The friends of Mr H. Grinstead will be pleased to know that he lias improved considerably in health during the last few days. Mr Grinstead is staying at Helensvflle, and enjoying the hot springs.

Dr P. S. do Q Cabot, formerly of Dunedin, is at present on a visit to the Dominion and will spend some five or six weeks in New Zealand before returning to America. Dr Cabot is on the proiessorial staff of Simmons College, Boston, directing a research project in the prevention of juvenile delinquency.

Mr AV. A. Reid, who for the past 13 years has been a member of the staff of the Hawera Dairy Company, has been appointed to the position of as-sistant-superintendent of the municipal milk department of the Wellington City Council, and leaves for Wellington this week. Mr Reid for three years attended the dairy courses at Aiassey College. The death has occurred of Mr Donald ltoss, one of Martinborough’s earliest setttlers. Air Ross was born a Caithness, Scotland, in 1862, and came to. New Zealand with his parents at the age of 11 years. The family settled in the Martinborough district, and Mr Ross had resided there ever since, except for a period of five years spent in Australia. The death has occurred at the age of 95 years of Air Zacariah Aleads, of Rata, one of the early pioneers of the Rangitikei district, and a widely respected " resident. Air Aleads was born at Te Aro Flat, AYellington, in 1842, and arrived in the Rangitikei district iu 1858. He took up land at Paruekaretu, then clad in dense bush, and assisted in driving the first sheep to the district. He served in the cavalry and militia during the Alaori troubles. It has been announced that Air T. Lindsay Buiclt, author of the valuable historical biography, “Old Alarlborough,” proposes to revise the book and add a modern section. He is the convener of the Alarlborough sub-com-mittee in the historical group of the national organisation for the celebration of the New Zealand Centennial in 1940, and following the announcement of lii appointment representations were made to him in AVellington to revise the volume and extend it in co-opera-tion with a provincial sub-committee. It was learned that Air Buick was already entertaining the idea, subject to the general approval of the province. The proposal lias been communicated to the Mayor of Blenheim (Mr J. Stevenson), as chairman of the Marlborough Centennial Committee, and he has warmly welcomed it.
