DEBATING SOCIETY.
AYEEKLY MEETING. At a meeting of the Palmerston North Debating Society on Alonday a series of prepared speeches was heard, the speakers being:— Mrs Sniidt, “Hetty Green ; Mr E. E. AVatson, “The AVestern Novel’ ; Air H. G. Alills, “Extracts from AVells, Gibbs and Bellamy”; Air A. C. Philpott, “A Defiance.” The main debate was: “That Germany and Italy's attitude in the Spanish question is justified.” The following members took part: Alessrs J. S. Hornblow (leader), R. Shaw, R. Allison, AV. Robertson (leader), Af. Boyce, H. G. Alills Air H. J. King judged the debate. He awarded the Aim-ray Clip for the best prepared speech to Air E. C. AVatson. Mr I). Robertson obtained the highest marks in the debate and so holds the S. AI. Carlton Aledal for the week.
