SEIZURE OF OPIUM
Per. Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 20. A seizure of opium was made at Queen’s wharf to-night by Mr A. H. Boland, search officer of the Customs Department, who had the Maungnnui under observation after its arrival from Sydney this morning. His vigilance was rewarded between 5 and 6 o’clock when he apprehended a coloured waterside worker on the wharf. A search in a nearby office revealed that the man was carrying ten tins of opium, which was seized. He will be charged in the Magistrate’s Court to-morrow.
