RUGBY FOOTBALL
MANAWATU UNION. The management committee of the Manawatu Rugby Union met last evening, Mr A, M. Ongley presiding. Others present were Messrs K. ,AV. Eglinton, H. R. Crawford, J. R. Hardie, \V. Carruthers, A. Gordon and H. J. Hickey. The Woodvilie Hockey Club wrote asking if the union would, be using the Woodville recreation ground on August 7.—lt was decided to notify the club that the ground would not lie required. The Palmerston North City Council wrote asking for the appointment of a representative of the union to act on the committee organising the jubilee gatherings of the city to be held later in the year.—Mr Hardie was appointed. The secretary of the Massey College Club wrote asking that C. Francis be given his clearance as from Saturday, July 17.—1 tisto be pointed out that the clearance is given by the club, none being required from the union. The Wanganui Rugby Union forwarded an invitation to an official dinner being held to celebrate the jubilee of the Wanganui union on July 24. Left ill the hands of the secretary. It was decided to call entries for the subsidiary competitions in the senior and junior grades. The arrangement of those competitions is to be considered next week.
Mr Gordon was appointed manage) of the representative team to play Oroua at Kimbolton on Saturday. A discussion took place on the admission of cars to the Showgrounds for the Springboks match, and it was decided that cars bo not admitted. It was pointed out that the cars ’ ivould be arriving all within a short period and it was felt that there could very easily bo bad congestion of traffic, while there had also to be considered any possible trouble in the cars and pedestrians leaving by the same gate after the match.
It was decided that the tim'd grade representatives play the Oroua junior representatives at Feilding on August 7 as the curtain-raiser to the AVairarapaManawatu match.

United, at Bunuythorpe, 2 p.m. (Mr B. Holdsworth); Massey College v. Feilding Old Boys, at No. 3 Showgrounds, 2.45 p.m. (Mr C. Eglinton); ICia Toa v. Jaekeytown, at i»o. 2 Showgrounds, 2.45 p.m. (Mr A. Jewett); Old Boys v. St. Patrick’s, at oval, Showgrounds, 2.45 p.m. (Mr P. Waugh). Third grade.—Feilding v. St. Patrick’s, .at No. 1 Johnston Park, 2.45 p.m. (Mr C. Eade); Kia Toa v. P.N. High School, at No. 2 Showgrounds, 1.15 p.m. (Mr R. AVcston); Feilding Old Boys v. Feilding High School, at No. 1 Johnston Park, 1.15 p.m. (Mr C. Pinfold); Old Boys v. United, at oval, Srowgrounds, 1.15 p.m. (Mr It Young). Fourth grade.—High School v. Technical, at High School grounds, 1.35 p.m. (Mr G. Cooksley); Kia Toa v. United, at No. 3 Rugby Park, 1.15 p.m. (Mr A. Topic).
