(From Our Own Correspondent.) STANWAY, July 21. Mr Isaac Marshall was recently tendered an 80th birthday party in the hall. Friends from far and near were present in large numbers and the hall capacity was taxed. There was a cribbagc tourney for nondancers, Mr T. Green annexing the prize for the men while Airs James won the ladies’ prize. Consolation prizes wore awarded to Miss 11. Miles JEketahuna) and Mr A. Green. Mr C. Calllngham provided the music for the dance, for which Mr Keith Haywood was a capable M.C. Mr T. Green made presentations to Mr and hire Marshall and claimed that. Mr Marshall could bo called “the father of Stanway,” as ho was the last early settler still alive, having resided in Stamvay for 61 years, originally settling when there was only a bridle track through the bush front Foilding. Mr T. I. Marshall returned thank-6 on behalf of his parents lor the irifts and the honour conferred. After supper Mr Marshall lit the 80 candles on a Miles, of Ekotolmna is the z. n c i\T rs A.
