BAKING INDUSTRY.
COMMENT ON PROPOSALS. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, July 20. Information that the Auckland Master Bakers’'Association is deferring consideration of a scheme of rationalisation of the industry under the Industrial Efficiency' Act until after the proposed visit to Auckland by the Minister of Industries and Commerce, Hon. D. G. Sullivan, was .given by Mr Samuel Green, secretary of the association. Mr Green pointed out that it was expected the Minister would visit Auckland shortly at the invitation of the Auckland Manufacturers’ Association to explain certain impressions of the effect of the legislation. After he had done so the Master Bakers’ Association would discuss at a special_ meeting the scheme proposed for the industry. Many rumours had been circulated regarding what the bakers proposed to do under the legislation, added Mr Green. Thev could be disregarded. The position was that the national executive had suggested a. scheme of organisation under the Act for discussion by the various associations. So far as Auckland was concerned the position was exactly as described. Several master bakers expressed the opinion that at present the general opinion in the industry in Auckland was against the scheme. “We have nothing to gain under the proposals,” said one man.
