PAHIATUA, July 19. The results of the Rugby matches played, on Saturday, under the control of the Bush Union were: Nireaha beat Ballance by default; Pahiatua drew with Ngaturi 3 all; Hukanui .32 beat Makuri 0; Marima forfeited to Eketahuna Old Boys. The Bush basketball representatives beat the Dnnnevirke challengers, for the Oxley Shield, by 10 goals to 0.
Bush again holds the shield for a season. Competing at the recent AY el lington and Taranaki bird fanciers’ | shows, Mr H. P. A. Ahrens, of Kai- m tawa, completed a most successful season with his budgerigars, Mr | Ahrens’s birds competed in 98 classes. Fifty-three first prizes were won, with 21 seconds, seven thirds, and four times runner-up to the champion bird, and in addition to seven diplomas he gained 16 specials.
