After a prolonged discussion in committee the AVellington diocesan synod to-night adopted the proposal referred to by tlie Bishop (Bt. Rev. H. St. B. Holland) to mark the New ZeaVnd centenary in 1940 by laying tlie foundation stone of an Anglican Cathedral in AVellington in that year. The corner of Alolesworth Street and Hill Street was unanimously agreed on as the most suitable site, with the sites of St. Paul’s Pro-Cathedra.l and St. Alark s Church as an alternative if this could not be acquired. The Bishop made a personal gift of £IOO. stated to be half his capital, toward the building ol the cathedral.
