HOME DEFENCE CRUMBLES
Palmerston North Old’ Bovs’ _ goalkicker played a prominent part in the points scored by that team, at Feilding, for Betteridge not only played a good game but he contributed 17 points to the total, made up of four conversions and three penalty goals. Only once did lie fail to convert a try, aim in that instance it was an extremely difficult shot.
Feilding Old Boys line! the misfortune to be without H. Waugh and Janies Finlay, while Jack Finlay must be excused if he was not as aggressive as usual, owing to his having had a strenuous week, in more important games. New blood in the home team’s ranks consisted of Noel Bramwell and W. Wilson, whole N. Ball was an absentee.
S. Bramwell and Freeman line! the sting knocked out of them during the early stages of the game, both being nioiiien tari ly i ncapacitated. Feilding Old Boys failed badly in their tackling and their opponents had little difficulty in brushing them aside. The visitors had a strong rearguard, Betteridge, Buick, lnnes, and Bradley playing particularly well throughout, while in the forwards, Powell, O’Dea, Fleming and Lovelock featured prominently.
