KIA TOA WIN AGAIN.

MASSEY COLLEGE DEFEATED. Holding Massey College to an even score for the first half, Kia Toa had the assistance of a heavy wind in the second spell . of their match on the No. 2 ground and ran out winners by 18 points to 5. The teams were: Kia Toa. —O’Keefe, G. Wasley, G. Simpson, R. Waslev, Jarvis, Thomas, Winiata, Greatorex, Thorne, Latham, Beard, Williams, Whyte, Barnao, College.—Campbell, Pierce, Ball, Keals, Stewart, Francis, Ben-

nett, Thurston, Terry, Irving, Graham, Green, McKee, Dixon, Sutton. Massey College had to force early, but a cut-in by Francis and a series of good kicks by Campbell took the ball to the other end. Beard opened the play up, the ball eventually going to G. VVasley, who flung it infield for Whyte to secure, but was forced out of play near the line. From a mid-field ruck Thurston followed up hard, brushed past O’Keefe with a swerve and scored under the posts. Terry converted. Terry and Francis each tried unsuccessfully to goal from penalties near mid-field. Kia. Toa forced, and Simpson and G. Wnsley were concerned in a rush which took the ball to the Massey College line. Whyte picked up and scored. Carr’s kick went high into the teeth of the wind, falling back on to the bar to bounce the right way. After half-time J. Simpson replaced R. Wasley on the wing, the latter taking Jarvis’s place at centre three-quarter, tho last-named having suffered a cut hand. Kia Toa opened tho spell with a prolonged attack and Carr had a quick attempt at goal with a drop-kick which was nearly successful. Loose play took the ball to Kia Toa territory, but the defenders worked it away from their twentyfive again. R. Wasley kicked, too hard into the dead-ball area and then Whyte scored again to cap off a hammering forward assault. Carr’s kick missed. Kia Toa continued to press and Thorne and Williams followed up hard when a Massey College kick (which was meant to find the line) was charged down. Williams scored and Carr added the two further points. Pierce made a good run, hut Carr ended it when he caught the winger’s ankle. A long kick to the College twenty-five ended the attack. J. Simpson had an opportunity when College mis-kicked, but was crowded out of play. A little later O’Keefe followed up one of his own kicks, secured possession again, drew Campbell, and then gave Barnao an open run-in to score at the pasts. Carr converted, the final score being: Kia Toa 18, Massey College o. Mr C. Taylor was the referee.
