MARTON, Ju'y 17. "Mr IT. ,T. D. McManaway presided over a meeting of the general committee cf the Marton Jockey Club last week. The chairman reported, that he had attended the dates committee of the New Zealand Racing Conference regarding the Manawatu Chib’s summer meeting; tbo dates originally selected, December 27. 28 and 30 had been agreed to, and Marton had been granted September 25 for its spring meeting. Messrs F. Pepper (Tmakina) and J. Webb (Taihapo) were elected members. An application from T. Tito for a. jockey’s license was recommended for approval. Mr A. Vincent wrote accepting’ the pcsiticn of starter for the 1937-38 season. A circular was received from the: Commissioner of Transport with reference to traffic control at race meetings.—The secretary was instructed to write thanking the department for its offer to assist at the race meetings. The course committee reported that the tracks and appointments were in splendid eider. The trainers’ staircase to the members’ stand had been completed; the now. concrete stops alongside the main grandstand to the ladies’ conveniences had also been completed. The removal of the secretary’s office to the southern end of the members’ stand and the new stewards’ room should be more convenient.
